This quilt and pillow were commissioned by the mother of a rider who said that the cherished ribbons were faded from the beautiful Hawaiian sunshine. So although ribbons may be old and faded, you can see that they still make wonderful heirlooms!

The quilt is finished with ties at each corner using gold embroidery floss. The completed quilt is made as a Victorian "Crazy Quilt" which featured beautiful fabrics, decorative stitches and tied through the layers of fabric.

In my studio, I have a quilting machine where I can quilt through the top, back, and a layer of batting with a golden stitch in a design all over the quilt top. This can be done instead of the "Victorian Crazy Quilt" method with stitches along each ribbon and tied through the front and back with embroidery floss.


The ribbons are beautiful and speak for themselves.		Rosettes can be stitched on top of the quilt by hand if you indicate that.

Photos can also be included in the design.	Each ribbon unit is supported with a foundation fabric to add stability to your lasting heirloom before the backing and binding are added.	Your quilt is backed and bound in blue bridal satin. A 4-inch pocket is sewn onto the back (which is also made of the blue satin) which allows it to be hung as soon as it arrives.


Each quilt is delivered with a custom designed embroidered applique with the owner's name, horse's name, and year of the quilt's creation. An additional label can be made with a gift giver's name and small message.		Using several different decorative stitches, each ribbon edge is sewn through the foundation fabric. These golden stitches add embellishment as well as stabilizaton to your heirloom quilt.
